Managing digital signage screens comes down to five things: pairing new screens, scheduling when they turn on and off, assigning playlists, keeping thumbnails current, and organizing screens as your network grows. Skoop Signage handles all of it from one dashboard, so you can run one screen or a hundred without a technician on site.
How to pair a new digital signage screen
- Select the new button in the top right corner
- Choose new screen
- Name your screen
- Enter the pairing code
- Hit save
Your screen is now paired and ready to receive content.
How to schedule digital signage screens to turn on and off automatically
Manually turning screens on and off every day wastes time and invites human error. Automatic scheduling solves both.
- Scroll to the screen you want to program and select the pencil icon
- Scroll to screen on time and set it
- Scroll to screen off time and set it
- Confirm your time zone is correct
- Hit save
For example, if your store opens at 10am, set the screen to turn on at 9:50am so it’s ready before the first customer walks in. If you close at 6pm, keep it running until 6:10pm in case anyone’s still browsing. Once it’s scheduled, the screen handles itself, no one has to remember to flip it on or off again.
How to assign a playlist to a digital signage screen
There are two ways to assign a playlist to a screen.
Option 1:
- Open the screen and use the dropdown menu
- Select the playlist you want to assign
Option 2:
- Tap the three dots on the screen
- Select details
- Scroll to playlist and choose one
- Hit save
Plan for a short delay after saving. It can take up to 10 minutes for a newly assigned playlist to appear on the physical screen, so build that buffer in if you’re making a last-minute change before an event.
How to add a screen thumbnail image
- Tap the three dots on the screen
- Scroll to details
- Select upload image where it says no screen image found
- Choose your file
- Hit save
Switch between list view and grid view depending on how you like to work. Grid view makes it faster to spot the right screen once you’re managing more than a few.
How to organize digital signage screens with folders
- Hit the new button in the top right corner
- Select new folder
- Name your folder
- Drag your screens into the folder
You can nest folders inside folders too. Drag a subfolder into a parent folder and it moves in as a group. To move a screen between folders, tap the three dots on that screen, select move, and choose the destination.
How to rename a digital signage screen
Screen names aren’t locked in. Open the screen’s settings, update the name, and hit save.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for a new playlist to show up on my screen?
Up to 10 minutes after you save the assignment.
Can digital signage screens turn on and off automatically without someone managing it manually?
Yes. Set an on time and off time in the screen’s schedule and Skoop Signage handles the rest, including days no one’s there to flip a switch.
Can I organize a large digital signage network with a lot of screens?
Yes. Folders and subfolders let you group screens by location, department, or however your business is structured, and grid view makes large numbers of screens easier to scan.
